This One Horse Town

Only in this one horse town do bank robberies go down like this…
A woman at the drive through window saw suspicious activity inside the local Wachovia and promptly called 911 to alert the authorities.  All two squad cars were sent and they roped off a crime scene perimeter cautioning pedestrians to stay behind the yellow line.  Since the fire department is next door, they were on the scene immediately.  Dogs were brought in and the SLED team arrived.  With all the players in place, SLED kicked in the door prepared for the worst.  Upon entry, the bank manager was quick to assure them that all danger was at bay and everyone inside was safe.  Apparently while “Barney Feif” was “securing the perimeter” the masked man, cash in hand,  slipped out the back door.  The authorities ordered their team expand the perimeter, but since they only have two squad cars, they were limited to blocking only two roads leading out of town.  The suspect remains at large.
True story.  Our town.  I kid you not!

We concluded our time in Atlanta celebrating my little sisters graduation from highschool.  God has great things in store for her and Im so excited!  I love graduations.  So much ambition.  So much potential.  Hard to believe its been 10 years since mine!  What a decade its been!
I got the fun task of decorating the cake for her reception.  Its something Ive played with for years and though Im far from an expert, I was surprisingly happy with this one.  I call it my “Hybrid Design”  A sassy cross between Mary Engelbreit and The Devil Wears Prada:-)

Loved our time with my family and the sweet relationships that were represented.  Evie got some play time with her twin cousins Autumn and Emma.  She really liked at last having someone smaller than her whom she could pat on the head and steal toys from:-)

And she finally got to meet her great aunt.  A little help from chocolate, cookies and Aunt Anya’s famous “puppy chow” mix and the two were fast friends!

Touching Base From Atlanta

Thank you to all of you who have sent messages for Maggie. I will continue to pass those along through next week if the Lord prompts you!

With C out of the country for three weeks, I came to Atlanta for help with my crazy crew and back-to-back celebrations in the “Scheidt” household.

So proud of my little brother and his girlfriend who celebrated their college graduation last weekend with degrees in architecture. A great gathering with intown relatives and her sweet family who traveled from Jamaica. It was a ritzy reception around a pool by my sister’s classy condo. Wouldn’t you know it – Tristan couldn’t make it through the afternoon without landing in the pool (dress shirt, leather dockers and all!)
We celebrated Mother’s Day with a lovely brunch as a family and celebrated my amazing mother. Always fun to have siblings gathered and a gaggle of cousins to play with! I was pampered and spoiled and smothered with sticky kisses from those I am blessed to mother! My Mother taught my kids a little song they presented to me which unfortunately I cant get the video to upload at this time – bummer!

Mother and her four daughters.

Girls Night…Most of my childhood girlfriends still live in Atlanta. We had a great evening at my favorite little French restaurant where I waitressed in highschool. Between the four of us who have children, there is a tally of 19 kids under 10-years old!! Small wonder we needed a night OUT!

My little ones are passing countless hours in Grandenny’s pool soaking up sun. Aaah…summer!!!

Mother’s Day for Maggie

I find myself awash with tears tonight.

Jordan, a colleague of C’s, is pictured with his beautiful wife and four darling children; Sophie, Jack, Jonas and Owen. When Maggie was pregnant with the baby (Owen who is now 2) she was diagnosed with breast cancer. She began treatment, but it moved aggressively to her lymph system and into her brain. Surgery that was performed this past winter has left her very weak and her tired body is growing weary of fighting. They have considered this “terminal” for quite some time, but late last night, we received an e-mail from Jordan detailing yesterdays MRI report from doctors. Cancer has continued to eat away and has moved to the part of the brain that controls respiration. It is untouchable and there is nothing more they can do. The doctors believe that these summer months are her last.

Beloved Mother, Devoted Wife, Willing Follower of her Jesus.
I ache for Jordan and their precious daughter and sons. And though I KNOW peace is hers in the promise of Eternity with her Lord, I ache for Maggie – for her mother’s-heart. How do you impart to your children everything you want to in a few short months? She has walked an impossible road with such dignity and grace and glorifies her Lord through her life and testimony.

Jordan is scheduled to board a plane this week to join C for 10 days in China. Their family continues to live every day counting the cost. I am in awe. While I struggle for sanity as a single mom to this brood with C out of the country, I think of Maggie. With every bedtime story I read and every load of laundry Im privileged to fold and every little boo-boo I get to bandage, I think of Maggie, knowing she is cherishing every one of these moments! What an amazing woman!
God speed the day He returns to wipe away every tear and bind up the brokenhearted!
Come Lord Jesus, Come!

Pray please, beloved friends, for these dear ones!

If you feel led, I had an idea too…I know we have felt an immeasurable support from our “blogging community”. While Jordan and Maggie do not have a blog for me to share with you, I would love for Maggie to know the names and faces of those praying for her. Wouldn’t it be fun to “shower” her with prayers and e-mails during the next 2 weeks while her husband is out of the country? Lets bless this amazing Mommy on this, possibly her last Mother’s Day. (Trust me, I know how much encouragement is needed during the weary days of mothering alone!) You can leave a comment and I’ll get it to Maggie or I will forward any e-mails or verses or encouragement you want to send to her:

I know many of you reading this have little sweet-hearts in heaven. Maggie, I can imagine, will one day have the special task of “mothering” these little ones until He calls each of us HOME!
