What’s For Dinner At Your House?
Monday, October 4, 2010
My favorite wedding shower was a “Recipe Shower” my aunt threw for me. In addition to beautiful pie plates, Mikasa serving dishes and basic kitchen utensils, each guest was asked to bring a favorite recipe written on a card which were all compiled in a cookbook for me. Each of those cards are now dog-eared from years of use. I love trying favorites of the wonderful women in my life.
So….to my Creative Culinary Companions….I dont know if anyone will join me, but I thought it would be fun to share favorite fall recipes today. I tend to get stuck in a rut sometimes and need to be inspired to try new things. If you have a favorite, please let us in on the secret family recipes!
Simply:
1) post a recipe on your blog and then
2) link up here and we can visit eachothers.
If you dont have a blog, but want to share a recipe, you can do so in a comment. We’d love to hear what’s for dinner at your house!
Here are a couple with the Smith Stamp of Approval ~
Mother’s Beef Stroganoff
1 can Cream of Mushroom Soup
1 can Cream of Celery Soup
1 pkg. Liptons Dry Onion Soup Mix
2/3 C. red wine
2 lbs. lean beef cubes
1/4 lb. mushrooms (optional)
Blend soups, dry mix and wine together in a large casserole dish. Add beef cubes and then cover. Bake at 275 for 3 hours (this smells fabulous while its cooking!) Stir two or three times while its cooking. If mushrooms are desired, add them for the last 45 minutes.
Serve over pasta.

Peel baked potatoes and dice them. Chop bacon and save to the side. In large soup pot, put 4 C. chicken broth over med. heat. In a separate bowl, mix flour with 2 C. remaining broth and then add slowly to broth on stove while stirring. Add onions. Cook until it thickens (stirring occasionally) then reduce heat to simmer.
