The sky was overcast and patchy clouds were spitting over the majestic Atlantis structure as we pulled into Nassau on Day 3 of the cruise. Whoever said cruises were “relaxing”, clearly has never been on a Disney cruise and certainly not with children!….6 of them!! I came back more tired, than I went, but seriously, there was just too much FUN going on. We stayed up late and started early every day, eager to make the most of the experience and cram as many memories in as we could! We are forever spoiled….no vacation will ever compare! (altho we might need a vacation after this vacation!!)

“Arielle” had left new swim suits laid out for all the little mermaids. We fitted our fins and rapidly inhaled a couple danishes and orange juice at the Royal Palace restaurant before jetting off to meet our excursion group and disembark the boat for a special day in the Bahamas.
With the impending weather, the boys (who clearly don’t have mermaid powers) chose to sit the day out. C’s elbow length cast couldn’t get wet, so the guys decided to enjoy a day aboard ship and hit the movie theatre and order room service.

We took a 45 minute catamaran ride to Blue Lagoon Island. Surely this is where Neverland, pixie hollow and fairy tales originate. As we docked and walked over the wooden plank bridge to the beach, we watched in wonder as a pair of frisky baby dolphins swam under our feet and raced past immersed in their game of tag.

We settled ourselves on a string of beach chairs overlooking the jade lagoon with the tide lapping at our feet intending NEVER to leave!

A massive inflatable water park situated to our left beckoned the girls to come play. Our own personal “fairy godmother” took us under her wing after identifying Evie as a Wish Kid and went out of her way to make sure Evie’s every whim was catered to. She got all the girls passes into the water park, had the island photographer come take pictures of the girls (which she had printed and packaged up for us an hour later!!) and when she bumped into us waiting in line for a drink later that afternoon, she escorted us to the front of the line and made sure each of the girls got their beverage of choice.

We explored the section of the lagoon where the dolphins live. Such relational animals! They love an audience and played it up big for the girls who were eager to catch a glimpse of these friendly fish.

Lounging in hammocks under a palm tree…thats how we passed our last hour before it was time to catch the last ferry back to the Disney Dream. Gigi passed out and caught a much needed nap on the way back so she’d be ready to boogie all night!

Our sweet new friend Nicky from Guest Services had a huge stuffed horse and bags of gourmet popcorn on Evie’s bed when we arrived back in our stateroom with a note apologizing that “the weather didnt cooperate today, but this is still the most magical cruise on earth!” Additionally, there was a tray of chocolate covered strawberries.
YUMM!!
There was a rush to dress everyone in their scurvy gear for Pirate Night! Aaarrrrrghhhh!!!
The ship came alive with bandits and a swashbuckling crew as the staff and guests all donned skulls, patches and bandanas for a massive deck party. The pool deck was converted into a huge dance floor and the Mickey crew put on the biggest shindig at sea!

The dinner was in theme with menu items appropriate for a pirate party. We dined in style and enjoyed another unforgettable meal seasoned with lots of laughter from the antics of our servers who made it their mission to insure we had the time of our life! And….where else does your server cut your child’s meat for them so you don’t have to?!!!

Then it was back to the deck for fireworks after dark. The only fireworks show at sea and in true Disney style, they do everything big!! Altho our tiny pirate was fading, we took our eager crew to an 11:00 showing of Inside Out at the Buena Vista theatre. Popcorn and a movie at 11:00!?!! What happened to the responsible parents that we are? Im not gonna lie…Gigi and I slept through most of it, but we got major points for being a cool mom and dad!!

When we finally retired to our room after 1:00am, there was another note on the door with tickets for the entire family for snorkels and floats for our final day on Disney Island for the next day.
The magic continues!!
